This is a card game that some people like to talk about or imagine, but is probably not so often really played. The basic idea is to play a game of poker in which the losers have to remove items of clothing.

Strip Poker Rules: Organization

There are different ways to organize a strip poker game;

• Play a game of poker without betting: maybe draw poker with a showdown after everyone has drawn the cards they need. The player with the worst hand (or maybe every player except the winner) must remove an item of clothing.
• Poker with betting: The levels of bet are various combinations of truth, dares and removal of clothing.
• Play poker in which each player has a limited supply of chips: Anyone who runs out of chips has to remove an item of clothing to buy more. This version could be rather slow, but it is the basis of some of the Strip Poker software that has begun to appear.

Non-Betting Strip Poker Rules

When playing with the this variant (the common one), the choice of games should exclude games that rely on betting to work, as this version of Strip Poker is not a betting game. Guts, Sweep, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card No Peek, 3-5-7, and variants are examples of betting games best avoided in a hand of Strip Poker. Two or None, Five Card Draw, Low Ball and similar one or no draw games are good Strip Poker games.

With Video Poker software and online games, you play poker against the computer or online server. Your reward, if you win, is to see the model against whom you are playing progressively unclothed.

Game Setup

Each player starts the game with enough clothes to be comfortable. If a player does not have enough clothes, the host/hostess should provide them with additional hats, scarves, or drinks so that they feel comfortable playing. Once you start playing you cannot add more clothes. The host should provide players with a towel to sit on and/or wear if they need to leave the game area temporarily. No photography is allowed.

The game area should be divided from the non-game area and there should be no uncovered windows allowing non-players to peek. There is no watching allowed! You must either be playing or outside the game area. Even if everyone at the party says they will play, there must be a non-game area due to the Opt Out rule.

Hand Rankings Strip Poker Rules

The poker hand ranking rules follow the standard 5-card poker rules which can be found here, also on the internet, in books on card games, and often inside decks of cards labeled "Poker Cards". The host or somebody playing will know all the rules for resolving ties. Use a standard 52 card deck. For faster play have two decks with different colored backs and alternate dealing.

The dealer chooses a game (deal is passed after each game, clockwise), and deals.

Strip Poker Rules: The Opt Out

Nobody can be forced to play and any player may decide at any time that the game has gone beyond their comfort level and leave the play area. Other players must respect this and be supportive.

Betting Strip Poker Rules

This variant is essentially the same as non-betting, but involves betting. Any betting Poker game will work for this version of Strip Poker. Betting starts with the player to the Dealer's immediate left, unless it is a game which has some cards face up, in which case, the player with the highest card showing bets first. Ante is the lowest betting level (Truth). The first betting player may check (leave it at truth), or raise. Players may fold at any time, but will have to pay whatever they have bet to that point. The following raises may be made (and they can be doubled up): Truth, Dare, Clothes, and Super Dare (or Double Dog Dare).
